The Carolina Ice Palace offers several options for youth hockey players ages 4-18 years old in the Charleston, South Carolina area. Whether you are brand new to the sport of hockey or play competitively, the Carolina Ice Palace has a program just for you!

YOUTH LEARN TO PLAY

Ages 4-15

Youth Learn to Play classes are held on Monday evenings and meet from 5:00pm-5:45pm. Full equipment and the ability to stand up and move across the ice are required. You must pass Basic Level 3 or Snowplow Sam Level 3 in our Learn to Skate program before enrolling.

Stick time is designed for hockey players, ages 15 and below, to work on skills at their own pace. The cost for stick time is $15 per player and the player must sign in and pay prior to going on the ice. Failure to sign in and pay could result in a stick time suspension. FULL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED for stick time. Parents can accompany their child on stick time for a nominal fee of $10 and must also sign in at the front desk prior to going on the ice. Parents must wear skates, a helmet, and gloves.

Horseplay, bullying, group drills, and private lessons from non-CIP instructors is NOT TOLERATED.

LITTLE RAYS

Ages 4-9 ONLY

The program builds upon our learn to play hockey program and continues to develop fundamental movement skills, general athleticism, and continue to learn and acquire basic hockey skills (skating, puck control, passing and receiving, shooting, body contact, and goaltending). This is the time when a foundation is laid for future acquisition of more advanced movement abilities and hockey skills. A basic understanding of the game is also introduced, including rules and team concepts

The Spring 2024 session will begin April 9th, and registration will be available February 14th. Practices are held Tuesday’s and Gameday’s are Thursdays at 5:45pm-6:30pm or 6:30pm-7:15pm. The final assignment is based on registration (Time requests will not be accepted. Start times are subject to change). This program operates under the USA Hockey ADM Model for 8U hockey players. Scrimmages will be half ice OR cross ice based on final registration numbers. The goal is to get as much activity as possible during practices and scrimmages.

Full equipment is required, and all players must be USA Hockey registered before enrolling in Little Rays.

STINGRAYS FLOOR HOCKEY PROGRAM

This program strives to educate kids on basic floor hockey drills and lessons taught by SC Stingrays players during gym class. It elevates physical education with hockey sessions that promote teamwork, coordination, and fun. Players will also talk about important life skills and activities that will teach kids different ways to live a healthier, more sustainable, and fit lifestyle.
